{BETROTHAL} Devin & Barrett’s Portraits in Jerusalem | International Portrait Photographer

Well these images have been prepped and uploaded and just sitting there for over a month now. You see I wasn’t planning on dealing with whooping cough with me and my babies, so everything about my work que has been on a complete standstill. Even those things 99.9% done.

Now with us all starting to get on the mend, I think it’s time to let this fabulous couple out of my draft box.

Jacob and I couldn’t have been more thrilled when we heard the news of Devin and Barrett’s Betrothal, seeing that we are pretty fondly attached to both them and their amazing families, and we just happened to be living with them in Israel when it all so amazingly unfolded.

When we first heard, we instantly thought how AMAZINGLY PERFECT. We could only imagine the extreme joy of their home, between the dancing and the laughing and story-telling, of this fun-loving and expressive couple.

Their’s is another inspiring story of untainted, patient love that awaited until the perfect time for the Lord to unite them.

But this couple is far from ordinary or hum-drum, shall we say, and after announcing their BETROTHAL in an ever-memorable VINEYARD-SNATCHIN, they than had their amazing BETROTHAL CEREMONY as the sun set on the hills of Judea and Samaria, at the PSAGOT WINERY here in Israel. (promise there are pictures coming of all that too!)

Since their whole story unfolded in the glorious city of Jerusalem, we knew that we wanted to spend some time galavanting around taking some portraits. But the problem arose that we had very little time to schedule it. With everyone’s schedules jam-packed and Barrett and his family all leaving in a matter of a couple days, we knew we just had to MAKE it happen. So we did. We spent a few hours running and speed-shooting through Jerusalem like crazy people, at high noon of all times. But I think it worked out grand.

Below (and in this SNEAK PEAK POST) you can see the result of when we got shooed out of a particular section of the southern wall of the Temple Mount in the Old City. We found alternative ways to get where we needed to….

A contemplative moment in front of the KOTEL turned a bit hysterical. Ahem. {{{“Lean Out. O. No. Wait. Not like that!”}}}

You will be hard-pressed to find a more outrageously fun couple. E.V.E.R.

Gotta love Old City Stone.

We spent some time in the back-alley streets behind the big SHUK, where we found these breath-taking iron doors engraved with the emblems of the 12 tribes. I want. this. door.

Jerusalem is just full of amazing archways and alleys. An artist could get lost in here I tell ya.

We couldn’t get away with not showcasing the uber goofy and fun-lovin sides of these two. Case in point.

And they may like being goofy, but their love is about as genuine and real and deep as they come.

An Old City shoot wouldn’t be complete without a shot on the lions.

And of COURSE we had to run around the big open-air SHUK. Did people stare at us? Yes. They Did.

Well, one of obstacles of shooting in busy post-Sukkot Jerusalem, is the masses of scurrying people to walk into your shot. This really happened more often than not, and I decided to catch a few of them to show you.

And it always should end with the nosy Polish tourist yelling “kiss kiss!”

I had o so much fun with Devin and Barrett are am very much looking forward to their glorious wedding in the spring!

{{{Don’t worry, the post documenting their VINEYARD-SNATCHIN and BETROTHAL is in the works!}}}

What wonderful pictures!
We’re rejoicing with this precious couple.
I’m sure you know, but j-u-s-t in case, the inscription above Barrett & Devin on the black-and-white pictures says in Hebrew
Eshet Hayel (A Woman of Valor)from Proverbs 31. Great door too!

Hey Heather, :)
I hope you’re doing well. I don’t know if you heard the big news that I’m getting betrothed to the most wonderful man I’ve ever met, Scott Ogden. :) Yes!! *happy dance*
Ok, so, we were wondering if you would be the photographer at our wedding which we’re planning in August, though we don’t have a date set yet, but if you could let me know what you would charge, I would appreciate it. :)
I realize that you and your hubby may not be in the country at that time, or you just might not be able to do it, and if not, don’t worry. :) However, you were the first one we wanted to contact. :)
Blessings to you Heather. Love y’all. Hope to see you at Family Week.
