To One of The Dearest Persons I’ve Ever Known….Frik

To an amazing man whose roles of husband, father, and friend blessed so many beyond repaying.

To his incredible and undeniable faith in his Lord and Messiah Yeshua…

To someone who’s footprint will forever be visible in our lives and hearts…

We love and miss you Frik…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frik and his wife Anya moved here from South Africa and became fast and close friends with me and my family. Frik’s honest and simply way of facing and living life was refreshing and inspiring to many. He held first to love his God and then love with abandon everyone around him. When his health began to run downhill, his faith never wavered, and he faced so many challenges and hardships with amazing courage. Frik lost this battle on September 4th, 2008, at the young age of 55. But, although this is a tragedy for us, he’s now experiencing the freedom and joy that we all look forward to one day.
I was taking a stroll down memory lane by going through all my archives and found a handful of photos, some from the blessed time that I spend with Frik and his family down in South Africa.
Me and Frik
My dad and Frik had a special brotherly bond.
Frik and some of my brothers.
Frik and Anya’s relationship was always one that I admired – both had such expressive and passionate and sometimes explosives personalities (gotta love South Africans!!!) but their love always covered all. The way that Frik so fiercely and unapologetically loved was truly beautiful…
Daddy’s girl Marliza…
Like Father, Like son – Gundi.
I don’t have any pictures of Frik and his darling granddaughter Kayla who he cherished so dearly…
Hanging out in his rugby shirts, playin with children and cooking at his bri is some of what Frik did best:o)
A quiet moment in South Africa…..
We’ll miss you so much……..Shalom Shalom…….
Hi Heather
As I’m reading this I realise I should have rather read it at home as I find it a bit difficult now to hold back the tears. I just want to thank you for this dedication to my father. I also want to thank your parents for all they have done before and after my father’s passing. There are not enough words in any language to convey my gratitude for what great people they are. Please know that there will always be a place for your family in my house when ever you get to South Africa.
All our love.
Gundi, Nina & Kayla
Moving. Frik sounded SO cool. I’m grateful for your representation of an apparently great man. Reminds me of my Dad – wordsinred.com/editor/editor.html – good times. Good people. Thanks, Yahweh!
